Breast Enhancement in Savannah, Georgia
The Shape of Perfection
Breast augmentation surgery increases the size and improves the shape of a woman’s breasts. At Finger & Associates Plastic Surgery Center, our breast augmentation surgeons are able to perform the augmentation procedure through a small incision at the base of the breast, at the lower part of the areola, through the transaxillary approach which places the point of entry in a crease in the arm pit, or through the belly button. We are also able to place implants above or below the chest muscles, depending on the patient’s needs and desires.
The position and type of the implant and location of the incision most advantageous to each patient will be determined through a carefully orchestrated consultation process. During this process, one of our expert surgeons will analyze your existing breast size and shape, overall body dimensions, and personal preferences.
Newly developed, high-profile breast implants are proven to reduce visible rippling and may be the implant of choice for many patients striving for a more balanced appearance. The saline implant is most commonly used but we also offer cohesive gel implants on a limited basis for select patients. Such implants are designed to have an attractive and predictable shape.
Our breast implant augmentation practice extends from Savannah to Atlanta, Georgia and throughout the Southeast. The cost of breast augmentation surgery can most accurately be determined through consultation with one of Finger & Associate’s plastic surgeons.
Think a breast augmentation will require a painful, long recovery? Think again! Our rapid recovery system, pioneered by Dallas plastic surgeon John B. Tebbetts, is made possible by a special method of creating a pocket for the implant. This surgical technique has a profound impact on your recovery time.
This method, dubbed the “Out to Dinner Augmentation,” allows women to return to their routines almost immediately and experience little to no bleeding, bruising, or pain during recovery. There is no need for drain tubes, binders, or special bras, and your breast tissues will have endured much less injury. You can usually go out to dinner or otherwise enjoy your life – starting hours after your surgery.
Don’t let your busy life get in the way of undergoing a breast augmentation. We encourage you to contact us to learn more about our rapid recovery system.
Breast lift surgery, also called mastopexy, is an effective method of correcting breasts that have begun to sag due to the effects of time, weight loss, or pregnancy. Breast lift surgery is often preformed on women who feel self-conscience about sagging breasts and desire a firmer, more shapely look. As in all breast procedures, the breast lift offers women the opportunity to reduce the areola if they desire. For more dramatic results, implants may be combined with a breast lift. Breast “Auto-augmentation” performed with the breast lift procedure is a new technique to help maintain fullness in the upper portion of the breast using your own tissues. One of the problems very common with many breast lift procedures performed alone is a flatness or lack of fullness in the upper area of the breast. This deficiency in the upper breast area occurs gradually over several months as the repositioned breast tissue settles and succumbs to gravity. Some surgeons refer to this as "bottoming out" of the breast. "Auto-augmentation” is a procedure which uses a portion of the internal breast tissue to give you the upper pole fullness and cleavage. Prior to this new auto-augmentation procedure the only way to achieve the upper pole fullness and cleavage was to use an implant with the breast lifting procedure. When indicated, this new method eliminates the need for a breast implant and uses your own natural tissue as a natural breast implant.
Not only do plastic surgeons at Finger & Associates have expertise in all aspects of breast reconstruction, but they have also perennially been at the forefront of advancements in cosmetic technology. Breast reconstruction surgery can be and often is performed at the time of mastectomy or it may be done later. There are two common and proven methods of breast reconstruction: autologous (from oneself) breast reconstruction, in which TRAM flaps from the abdomen are used to reconstruct the breast; and reconstruction with tissue expanders, which are used in conjunction with breast implants. Patients who have asymmetry or defects as a result of a past lumpectomy procedure have an array of possible reconstructive solutions available at our Savannah plastic surgery practice.
Women who suffer from daily inconvenience and discomfort associated with having large, cumbersome breasts may find breast reduction to be the life-enhancing solution they are looking for. Modern plastic surgery techniques allow breast reduction surgery to be performed with minimal visible and unsightly scars. Breast reduction can allow women to lead healthier, more active lives. In certain cases, breast liposuction may be all that is required for breast reduction. Because large breasts, called breast hypertrophy, cause functional problems such as pain in the shoulders, neck and breast, reduction mammoplasties are often covered by insurance. In addition to the relief of discomfort, the breasts are more elevated and look much more youthful following this procedure.
Enlarged breast in the male, called gynecomastia, typically occurs at puberty, at andropause (male menopause), with obesity and/or if a male takes steroids. In these cases, except for obesity, too much testosterone is converted into estrogen. Either there is too much testosterone or the conversion enzyme, called aromatase. There are medications to prevent this conversion, but once gynecomastia has occurred, it may be necessary to remove the excess breast tissue surgically. Male breast reduction surgery requires a combination of breast liposuction and surgical excision through a small incision between the areola and skin. Male breast reduction is a very gratifying procedure for men who usually object with great vigor to having breasts. Male breast reduction surgery is usually done under a light general anesthesia, but can be done under local anesthesia if preferred.
