Q & A: Alternative to BOTOX is HERE! Dr. Finger: Savannah, Ga.

By admin on June 29, 2009

Attention Savannah, Hilton Head, Bluffton and Statesboro:

We now have an alternative to Botox. It is a product called Dysport, made by Medicis, the makers of Restylane. It is basically a botulinum product that relaxes muscles causing wrinkles such as the frown lines, the forehead furrows, and “crow’s feet.” Time and studies will reveal its longevity compared to Botox. My early experience reflects no stinging from the medication, which is impressive. Also, competition historically leads to lower prices.

Dr. Finger Q & A: What to do about Large Arms?

By admin on June 10, 2009

If the problem is just size, a liposuction is the best answer.
This can be done under local anesthesia. If you also have
sagging, the procedure of choice is called a brachioplasty or
arm lift. This is surgery that removes both skin and fat of the
upper arm between the axilla and the elbow, which does leave a
scar on the inner, more inconspicuous side of the arm. The arm
lift may require a light general anesthesia. Both procedures
require pressure dressings for a few days following the surgery.

Q & A: Dr. Finger, Savannah Ga: Why do some plastic surgeons leave stitch marks and others don't?

By admin on June 2, 2009

There should never be stitch marks except in inconspicuous places such as the scalp. All plastic surgeons learn how to close incisions in multiple layers so that the skin sutures (stitches) can come out within five days. If they are not put in too tight and come out within five days, there will be NO stitch marks. Be sure to discuss this with your plastic surgeon prior to your surgery.

Q & A: Are breast implants for breast enlargement?

By admin on June 2, 2009

Usually, but there are some exceptions. If someone has breast tissue but has sagging, then the breast tissue can be maneuvered and sutured higher and tighter, thus giving the impression of breast enlargement as well as correcting the sagging problem. The procedure is called an auto-augmentation.
Auto is short for autologous–which means using your own tissue.
